If you have a prayer request, please use the contact us page in the "About" tab or email us at e-mail us at actscommunityoflubbock@gmail.com.
Prayer Line Guidelines In general, we try to limit what we send you through the prayer line to once a day. If you do not wish to receive the prayer line requests or ACTS information via e-mail, please reply with “Remove” in the subject line. You will be removed from our e-mail list and receive announcements and newsletters via mail as long as we have a valid address for you.
If you have a prayer request, just send us an e-mail with your name. You can send a prayer request, view the upcoming ACTS Retreat schedule, download Retreat registration forms, and register online at
https://actscommunityoflubbock.org.
To ensure the proper delivery of your e-mail, it is important that you add
prayers@actscommunityoflubbock.org to your address book or your safe list.
Here are some guidelines for using the ACTS prayer line. You will see the message at the bottom of each day’s prayer line.
Lubbock ACTS asks that, before you submit prayer requests identifying individuals with health conditions, you obtain their consent. In posting prayer requests, Lubbock ACTS assumes that individuals identified in the requests have granted their consent to make their health conditions known to the public. Thank you for your cooperation. We started adding this statement after some members raised concerns about the possible unintentional invasion of patient privacy when our prayer requests include patient conditions. More recently, a family member raised similar concerns about a request made on behalf of a member of ACTS without the family’s knowledge. In an effort to continue supporting one another in prayer while respecting privacy, the Core Team asks the following of everyone using the prayer line:
Please use this strictly as a prayer line. We are not able to post any requests for anything other than prayers, including personal donations or patient visitation. However, we will use this e-mail list to inform you of ACTS events and announcements (like this one) and to distribute the newsletter.
Please obtain the permission of anyone for whom you submit prayer requests, especially when the need involves medical or other highly personal matters.
Don’t assume that even someone in your immediate family wishes to be included in the prayer line without permission. With the best intentions, you might be violating the legal and ethical rights of your own spouse, sibling, parent, or adult child if you reveal to anyone that he or she has cancer, heart disease, traumatic injury, or any other medical condition. Remember also that other personal situations such as marital problems and parenting struggles are private unless the person suffering them grants permission to be on the prayer line.
When posting prayer requests for yourself, please take care not to violate someone else’s privacy. For instance, you may be willing to let the community know about a marital issue, but your spouse may wish to keep it private.
If you do not have permission, please do not use names, even the first names, since many of your ACTS brothers and sisters may know who you are talking about. For instance, you could say instead, “Please pray for someone dear to me that has been diagnosed with breast cancer.” (But be prepare for your concerned friends to ask questions!).
These guidelines are not intended to discourage the use of the prayer line or even the mention of names with permission. Many of us want specific prayers said for us by as many people as possible, and we are happy to grant permission. Others may have reasons for keeping their issues private, and ACTS wants to do all we can to protect their right to do so, especially since we have a legal and moral obligation to uphold that right.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact a member of the Core team.
Thank you very much for your cooperation. Let’s continue to pray for one another because our God is merciful and almighty!
God Bless each of you,
Lubbock ACTS Core
